ReFLEX25 AccessMate From Glenayre Now Available Through PageMart Wireless AccessMate in Volume Shipments to PageMart for New Scout(SM) Guaranteed Messaging Service SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The Wireless Access Group of Glenayre Technologies Inc. announced today that its AccessMate advanced messaging device is now available to users through PageMart Wireless. Customers of PageMart's new Scout Guaranteed Messaging service, launched today in the San Antonio and Austin, Texas, markets, will be using the AccessMate as their pager of choice.
Currently the smallest advanced messaging device on the market, the AccessMate is an alphanumeric text pager that provides unprecedented functionality, including registration and guaranteed messaging. The new Scout service, based on industry-leading ReFLEX technology, allows subscribers to be reached 24 hours a day via operator dispatch, numeric page or voice mail through one, easy-to-remember pager number that also doubles as an Internet email address for word messaging.
PageMart's Scout service takes advantage of a complete system solution from Glenayre, including devices and infrastructure. Glenayre's Wireless Messaging Group (WMG) provides the narrowband PCS (NPCS) infrastructure for PageMart's network and Glenayre's Wireless Access Group provides the AccessMate device.
''The size, ease of use and unmatched functionality of the AccessMate make it the guaranteed messaging device of choice for advanced paging services such as PageMart's new Scout service,'' said Gary Hermansen, vice president of sales and marketing for Glenayre's Wireless Access Group. ''The capabilities of the AccessMate will enable users to take advantage of PageMart's numerous features, such as the ability to receive data from the Internet, corporate intranets and specialized databases on the pager.''
''The messaging device is an integral part of the service, '' said Donna Regenbaum, vice president of marketing for PageMart Wireless. ''The advanced messaging capabilities, ease-of-use and compact size of the AccessMate make it an ideal offering with our new Guaranteed Messaging Service.''
About the AccessMate
With the paging industry moving in the direction of broader adoption of ReFLEX networks, the flexibility of the AccessMate as a messaging platform and the product's multiple functionality options make the pager an optimum entry point for carriers expanding their networks to two-way.
With registration, the AccessMate can register its geographic location on networks based on the ReFLEX protocol. This allows the carrier to transmit an alphanumeric text message more efficiently and economically than traditional one-way broadcast paging networks, where the pager location is unknown. Combined with Glenayre's paging infrastructure, users of PageMart's Scout service will be able to take advantage of the unprecedented level of functionality that the AccessMate advanced messaging device provides.
The AccessMate is also capable of providing guaranteed message delivery by acknowledging receipt of a message, on a per message basis. Even when the user is out of range, or when the pager is turned off, messages are stored and then forwarded to the pager when it's back on or within range.
