Jim - see exchange2000.com The new Alpha chipset and bus design has been in development for about 2 years, I first heard about it in client-server news in spring of 1997. According to that article (which I can no longer link to, guess it's too old) claimed the original target was early 98 but that has now been moved to summer so I'm guessing reality is fall 98. According to C-S news the project was called 'wildfire'. The Dynabus took years to develop as did their high end server. True but not by Sun - they bought this technology just as it was coming to maturity.
