I don't claim to understand medical technology. Or, as Bones would say "Damn it Jim, I'm a technologist not a opthamologist". When I spoke to my friend, who IS an opthamologist, his first reaction was the same as yours, this development will take years to hit the market. He, nor I were claiming that this treatment was the same as Cerestat, we don't know enough about it, although he knows a lot more than I do. He did say that if a drug is fundamentally the same as one that has already gone through the clinical trials and been approve that the approval process for the new drug can be expedited. Again, I am just passing along info (or misinformation) I myself am not intimately familiar with the FDA approval process.
I had not heard that Cerestat is hallucinogenic. Does this mean that there may be a secondary market for it (in leisure/entertainment)? Ha ha, just kidding...
