>Yes,its kind of sad, since Creative hasn't been doing that great on sound cards lately anyways.
That's a fact. They were never great, but they used to have a good marketing policy, and being one of the first soundcardmanufacturers around (if not the first) they easily ruled out the competition in the early years. Unfortunately the remainders of their marketing aren't all that great anymore, and they do not have any spectucalar new technologies. In fact, CL is using old technologies that have been tested and used all over again... So: they do not perform a pioneering task, they do not experiment with new technologies? The only risk they have left is OVERSTOCKING, and even there they seem to be failing... If they continue like this I foresee CL will not last very long...
>I was at a computer show the other day, and they had a sound card for sale named the "AW32". Some third party manufacturer trying to trick people into thinking it was the Soundblaster AWE32 card. What a joke!
This sounds sooo familiar... ;-) But hey: who says his card isn't better than the real thing? Who says it isn't exactly the same in quality but at a better price? Just an idea.. What Gravis needs is a spectacular BREAKTHROUGH soundcard and a good dose of marketing and support. Learn from their own and other people's mistakes ... Gravis has never spent enough money in publicity, while Creative never did anything but publicity (in a manner of speaking).... Gravis shouldn't be making the same mistake Turtle Beach made ("we don't need publicity, we 'll get customers because of our quality products"), nor should they do overstocking, overmarketing, non-support, non-investment in new technologies (what CL failed in). |
