A couple of comments:

.) This "scoop" is old news - I confirmed it myself at E3 from the TDFX guys. (BTW, I encourage any newcomers to this thread to go back and read the posts that came out around the E3 timeframe - end of May.)

.) The Gamecenter columnist is obviously being "played" by the nRIVIA folks as part of a FUD campaign that kicked off today and included the simulataneous PR releases earlier in the day.

.) Despite that, they _do_ raise a good point. I was very disappointed and concerned when I learned at E3 that initial Banshee cards would only be AGP 1x. The TDFX folks expressed confidence that Banshee would still be very competitive performance-wise. I remain very concerned about this claim.

.) I remain highly opposed to TDFX's decision to keep information about Banshee secret so long. nVIDIA and the other card makers are doing exactly what I'd do if I were in their shoes - exploiting the rumor mill that always arises in an information vacuum.

.) However, the article's conclusion is speculation presented as fact and is very misleading (if not slanderous). The ultimate performance of Banshee is all that matters and right now (unfortunately) NO ONE KNOWS what Banshee's performance will be. To imply that a 2x AGP board must be, by definition, faster than a 1x AGP board is flat out wrong.

.) Given the information blackout that TDFX has chosen to put around Banshee for now, investors are forced to make a choice: Take the company at its word ("Best 2D and 3D performance bar none!") or decide that for some reason they are lying.
