INtel has a lot more competition in that market than they do now. There is no one standard on the low-end CPU market. Yes Strong-arm has a good following, but SUN has their pico java chips, and there are others out there.

Ya, I read just today that fujitsu is adopting the SUN Pico java chips. At the low end it seeems price is everything. Intel didn't enter the Windows CE arena, I suppose the low price chip was too low for them.

I think the things delaying the ARM projects are:
"Not invented here"
and worse
"Competes with something invented here".. (and if Paul is correct about the 960 being a descendant on the 432, which I don't doubt, then it is almost a sin to sell ARM at all).

Intel is at a crossroads. It will be interesting to see where they go from here. I am betting they will do ok, but price wars in the chip market can get pretty ugly. A quick look at the DRAM market can put some fear into any investor.
