I was being sarcastic. The Soviet Union was the most oppressive regime of all time. I've talked with professors who said that the mistake the Russians made was to be too easy on the people. There was some minor market oriented bartering going on in the farm sector probably the only activity supporting that decrepit state. The professors thought allowing any form of Western decadence would destroy the evolution to perfection because it would allow people to cling to selfish ways. They thought that the way to root out all vestiges of degeneracy was to rule with an iron hand.
