When all is said and done, the broader marketplace will decide these issues, and they're starting to make their preferences known.

- Uncomfirmed but strong rumor has it that Smith Barney wants very badly to be the leading beta-test site prior to product roll-out. Something about "which would you want, a State of Nevada or Smith-Barney impramature on your test results?" Interesting, but unsubstantiated.

- Again, rumor strongly has it that heavy buying is developing at Merril and PruBache. If this is the case, all agruements to the contrary about Z-M don't mean spit. . . (for the momententum at least!)

The above rumors suggest that either they (the major brokerage houses mentioned) have been shown or seen results that give them reason to be bullish, or as the old addage goes, "you can fool all of the people some of the time"...

Since I've already indicated my concerns about the y2k problem and our general tendencies toward hubris and denial, I'm hopeful that against the background of their internal examination of their y2k issues, they've seen or been shown results that would make them bullish in their support of M-Z.

We shall see. But watch your toes that ya'll don't get stepped on in the rush . . .

Have a good turkey day, and count your blessings!
