I think you don't have a clear understanding of Intel's breadth of products.

Intel has a large (in volume) business in embedded microprocessors - i960s, 80C51/80C52/80C251, 80C196, etc.

These processors sell in huge quantities and many of them sell for far less than $25/copy.

These don't earn Intel huge profits so you don't hear much about them in the "media" press coverage.

But they do earn profits for Intel, despite their low selling prices.
