MrB didn't seem very interested, but Nurse Norma examined the stick closely. At one end was engraved the initials "FF". Nurse Norma tucked that bit of information away for later use.
"Well, we'll go check out the power panel", said Jeff. "See if we can get your lights back on."
The lights came back on shortly, and Nurse Norma let the kids go about their scheduled activities. She took Muffy Murphy off to the side and asked to see the necklace that Nurse Norma had given her for Christmas just a few days before.
Muffy handed her the necklace, and Nurse Norma told her to "run along and play with the others". After Muffy left, Nurse Norma used a pen knife to scratch the initials "FF" into the back of the pendant on the necklace. She gave the necklace back to Muffy later that evening while they were counting down to 0. Happy New Year !!!
"Hey!", yelled Norma. "Pay attention, will ya'? We're at the airport. You can get out now! And, take your damned dead dog!"
Muffy, startled by Norma's yelling, awoke from her daydream. She realized she was caressing the necklace that Nurse Norma had given her so many years ago. Muffy crawled out of Norma's cab, and retrieved her bags from the trunk.
As Muffy walked slowly to the airport baggage check, she noticed that Norma was watching her from across the street. "Hmmmm ...", thought Muffy. "I wonder if that cab driver is any relation to Nurse Norma?"
