<<''This is a natural fit that will help speed industry and consumer adoption of digital cameras,'' said Matt Keowen, director of marketing communications and alliances, FlashPoint Technology Inc. ''We designed Digita as a powerful, easy-to-use and versatile operating environment that runs on a range of imaging products, and the Clik! system will provide high-capacity, affordable removable storage to users of the same products.''
Clik! drives, for use with small, thin and light 40 MB Clik! disks, are designed to be the first affordable, high-capacity removable storage solution for multiple portable digital products.
The Digita operating system provides complete interoperability among imaging devices, enables rapid sharing, manipulation and printing of images among multiple devices. Digita will offer many other benefits for both OEMs and customers, such as increased camera feature sets and drivers to allow easy use of Clik! drives and disks. Currently, Kodak, Minolta and Sharp are licensees of Digita. Kodak recently introduced two new cameras, the DC220 and the DC260, based on the Digita operating system.
''The digital products market will really take off when people are able to easily share information and images among their PDAs, digital cameras, PCs, and printers,'' said James Kelly, president, mobile storage division, Iomega Corporation. ''This announcement is a big step toward making digital cameras more versatile, more powerful and easier to use than ever before.'' >>
