U.S. HEADLINE STOCKS - Issues to watch June 16

-- Microsoft Corp. <MSFT.O> said on Monday it will sell its
SoftImage special-effects software unit to Avid Technology Inc.
<AVID.O>, the top supplier of video-editing software, in a deal
valued at $285 million.
In return, Microsoft will take a 9.1 percent stake in Avid
and hold a warrant to acquire more shares after three years for
a potential total of up to 12 percent of Avid. Avid shares
closed at 37-10/16.
