I must have been watching a different game (or maybe, because of my mongrel heritage **, from an eclectic perspective) 'cause I thought the U.S. played a pretty spirited game on balance. Made the Germans look a bit out of shape at times (age?) and with a couple of breaks, this could easily have ended in a tie. Let's keep in mind, too, this was a first round game.
**=German father, French mother (what a combo, huh?), wife's background Croatian/Austrian...soooo, with no Canadian team to root for, obviously, I don't know whether to 's***t or go blind'! Consequently, I've adopted the U.S. (with your permission, of course).
When all's said and done, I've gotta go with Brazil in the final.
