Teknema Enters Latin America Through Partnership With Telcel in Venezuela
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 16, 1998--Telcel of Venezuela has selected Teknema's Internet TV Set-Top Box to provide its consumers with Internet access on TV sets, Teknema announced today. Distribution of the Set-Top Box will be handled by Telcel through its 500 points of sale, while T-Net, the Internet division of Telcel and the largest Internet Service Provider in Venezuela, will provide the Internet access. Telcel, a Bell South company, is the largest cellular telephone service provider in Venezuela.
Designed for ease of use and affordability, the Teknema Internet TV Set-Top Box allows access to the Internet and the World Wide Web without the need for a PC by using a standard telephone line and a TV set.
