A month ago? How did you get this? Do you remember when MSFT release J++? Tell me how MSFT implement JVM without knowing the JVM spec?

You are keep on question the cross platform ability of Java. I believe there is nothing 100% cross-platform. But Java give you the best tool and concept to reach that. MSFT properly is not in the good position to reach the goal since every thing are Windows dependent. If you think ActiveX can reach this, you were misleaded by MSFT. Thinking about the time you need to re-compiler ActiveX component in all different platforms - Windows, UNIX, MAC and OS/2. Thinking about how long you will get all resources such as Adobe ATM supporting in all the above platforms. ActiveX is only good in Windows but not Internet.
