Authorities today are baffled by the disappearance of a small private jet which left the United States earlier today enroute to Tahiti. The sole passenger is reported to be a wealthy investor, known for shorting high flying tech stocks.

Radar tracking records indicate the plane was on its scheduled path for most of the flight. Then, inexplicably, it turned due North for several miles, and finally dropped off the radar screens. There was no radio contact, and no distress signals.

The aircraft company responsible for the maintenance of the plane had this to say: "We don't understand it. The plane was in perfect condition. It had just undergone the 10,000 hour service. Everything checked out normally. We even added the latest avionics gear. Great stuff! It's called FBN-CoPilot. It fully automates the entire airplane. The pilot just sits back and naps!"

Hopes of finding the presumed downed plane are dimming with each passing hour. It is feared all aboard are lost. A humanitarian rescue effort has been mounted by the well known philanthropist, TEDennis, the current CEO of FBN Associates. "We're here as a gesture of our belief that all persons deserve a fair chance to survive", said TED. He smiled briefly afterwards, presumably giving the photographers a chance to catch a shot of his boyish, yet handsome profile.

*** Update *** Recently it was learned that the pilot missed the takeoff while taking a biological break in the pilots' hangar restroom. The plane was flying on full automatic. The only occupant of the plane was the aforementioned investor. Identification is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

End press release.
