Richard, market value is not determined by the holders, but by the last sale. Holders (suppliers) would have more power if demand were constant or only increasing, but they cannot control whether demand will diminish, and they will end up "holding" only paper or tulips.

Your belief that by merely "holding on" you will be able to hold the price up, is a failure to acknowledge that the owner-group does not exert demand (unless they buy more, of course).

Ideally, traders position themselves "in the middle", where they can always respond by either buying or selling. Your analysis, such as it is, is missing this dimension. It is similar to believing that breathing means keeping your lungs full all the time...
