It is quite obvious by now that we are in a full blown spec stock bear market. Many investors never really understood what that means. Let's face it, bull market is beautiful, exciting and creating lots of wealth. That's the time when turkeys fly like the space shuttle "Challenger" and pigs bark like a hormone stricken teenager. The time when there are more stock market experts than all of the stocks put together on all of North American stock exchanges. When everybody wants to make money yesterday and patience is a foreign word as foreign as next door neighbor's gonorrhea and Warren Buffet's strategy of investing is as good as the alimony. But those investors that are old enough to go thru at least one of the good market cycles and one of the bad ones know that it is a normal event and good times end at one time or another, and life goes on until the next time. Unfortunately many new investors are caught in the downdraft unprepared and are not willing to take the profit off the table or to cut their losses or simply hold on to good companies. This is the time when they realize that the "margin call" isn't a friendly call from a sexy brunette by the name Marge, or that the loan officer at the bank isn't really as friendly and cool of a guy as it seemed at first. Having still the mentality of a bull market and heavenly state of mind they look upon every stock that doesn't move within 5 days as alzhiemer's disease victim. Many of them divorced their spouses (or planned to divorce) not wanting to share their future profits with the "female dog", really a 19 year old chick somehow wasn't out of reach (at least after the plastic surgery and a tummy tuck) and the vision of a red Ferrari convertable was much stronger than the sense of reality.
Having said that I say humor is the best medicine and patience our best friend.
I hope I'm not preaching.
