Bob, if I were worried about my Otis elevator, I would be much more likely to call Otis than TAVA. As an electrical engineer and one-time designer of imbedded stuff, I can offer one easy test for the possible existance of y2k harware problems:

Does the device allow you to enter the date by some means and, if so, does the year enter as two digits? If the answer is "no" to either part, then it is almost certain that you have no problems. If yes to both, then you "might" have a problem and better do some testing.
