What is your point? So Sun has control, so what? I don't think Sun has the power to go it alone, I think Microsoft does. Sun dumps on its partners at its own peril; Microsoft dumps on whoever it has designs on with impunity.
You know, I really don't have the heart or disposition to be argumentative at this level. I tried my best to contribute some technical perspective here, but no one seems particularly interested, except at the "No, you're wrong, Microsoft is right" level. I don't think it's particularly edifying to argue at that level. I've got to go back to lurking for a while. I may post a URL from time to time, but no more essays or snippy repartee. I'll leave you all with my conclusion from 3469:
Reg, Sal, Ballmer, and I all seem to be in agreement about what Microsoft is trying to do, and I've tried hard to argue unemotionally about why I think it's wrong. Warfare is not the most productive way to use resources, and I wish that Microsoft could learn to live diplomatically with the rest of the network and computing world instead of going to war against it. I think we'd all be better off.
