"Lolita", I guess fake naive innocence is a stock in trade for you, though at around 55 years old, you are getting pretty long in the tooth. Or maybe even have false teeth to go with your false persona. A better stock in trade would be Qualcomm. NOT Ericsson!!! Nor even Globalstar now. Qcom rulz OK!
Fancy joining SI and on day one finding the best investment in town, then knowing about NextWave with a capital W in the middle, so I guess you don't know THAT much and your wonkey grammar is indicative of something too.
In fact, if I had to guess, I'd say you are Uncle Bill, the GSM Nazi, in drag, which might be a common costume for him. It's difficult to tell with Bill whether he's coming or going. One minute there is no way CDMA can ever work, then if they try for decades they might cobble together some chicken wire and bubblegum to get some kind of function. Now he is looking for some possibility that one of the technical objectives won't be totally met. Fat chance, and the 2 year delay is over, the share price is where it was years ago, so you are gazing at a bargain in Qcom.
No plausible events are needed other than lots of handsets rolling off the production line as fast as they can go and infrastructure being built as fast as they can go too. I suppose the main plausible events needed are sunrise, no incoming comets, some slight semblance of continued human activity on earth - if those conditions are met, then CDMA handsets will sell, subscriber numbers will grow exponentially and Qcom's share price will rise as investors try to make money.
Many people are STILL waiting to see if it is real. Even Uncle Bill is not convinced and he is very knowledgeable. So you can imagine the poor Wall Street hacks are holding a nervous line. They won't want to miss out on the next "Microsoft". Qualcomm, like Microsoft, is standing astride an enormously important technical development. So when it dawns on them that QCP whatsit phones are selling faster than Windows 95, they'll sit up and take notice.
What time is the NextWave IPO? Probably 9 am Lolita. You'll have to be up early in the morning. Would you like me to email you the prospectus? I have it sitting here if you want it! I suppose underlying your question is a cynical comment that they were supposed to offer shares to the public in July. Well, that wouldn't have been wise since a big downturn took place then. I guess they didn't need the money too urgently. They signed a $200 million dollar infrastructure deal with Lucent a couple of days ago, so they haven't gone to sleep.
I think you'll find NextWave come out for public money when the Primeco business has shown people what a success CDMA is. I guess after Xmas when CDMA handsets are out in profusion and everyone is looking for a piece of the hottest investment action in town.
Indulge yourself Lolita, get a piece of the action now. Buy Qcom tomorrow. Don't be bluffed by Bill's Nazi Propaganda - leave him to continue being a slave to Ericsson for a living. Use your capital to support the New Free World. Look what happened to the original Nazis as a result of believing their own stories.
"Catch me asking you another question!!!" Lucie to Linus, Peanuts 1960 something.
