IBM Adds Intel's Fastest Processor to Entry-Level
Commercial Desktop Line

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 16, 1998--IBM(a) today announced the new
commercial desktop IBM PC 300GL with Intel's latest Pentium(b) II processors - - - for under $ 1,400 (1). The IBM PC 300GL is designed for customers who want high performance combined with the most advanced PC systems management and asset security capabilities in the industry.

The new IBM PC 300GL is based on Intel's 100 MHz front side bus processors and BX chip set. Standard models of the new 350 and 400 MHz (2) PC 300 GL are available with either 32 or 64 MB SDRAM (maximum 384 MB) and 3.2 or 6.4 GB (3) ATA-33 SMART hard drives.
The new systems utilize the S3 Trio 3D graphics accelerator with AGP (accelerated graphics port) and is available with options such as 32X CD-ROM (4) or 4.5 GB SCSI hard drive.

"We continue to focus on providing a variety of system options for entry-level business users," said Rod Adkins, general manager, IBM Desktop Systems. "With the addition of the Pentium II 100 MHz front side bus processor, IBM PC 300GL customers are now able to choose from
three different processor families."


As with the rest of the IBM PC 300GL line, the new PC 300GL features an NLX motherboard for easy access and upgradeability, and manageability technologies such as IBM's Wake on LAN(a), SMART Reaction(a), Netfinity(a) Manager, LanClient Control Manager(a) (LCCM), and support for Intel's Wired for Management (WfM)(b) specification. LANDesk(b) Client Manager. These technologies enable MIS managers to perform a wide range of tasks remotely, including software downloads and BIOS updates, and provide unmatched data
protection capability. The new IBM PC 300GL comes pre-loaded with Windows(c) 95 or Windows NT(c) and is available in either desktop or mini-tower models.

Estimated reseller prices for the new IBM PC 300GL start as low as $1,395 (1) (without monitor), depending on model and configuration.

IBM also announced today the availability of a new 300 MHz PC 300GL, featuring Intel's Celeron microprocessor, with estimated reseller prices starting at $1,049.
