But I wonder about tomorrow. GOYL reaction to RAYS
new was delayed by one day.

STRATHAM, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 25, 1996-- Building on its
reputation for producing the world's most innovative footwear,
apparel and accessories, The Timberland Company (NYSE: TBL) has
set its sights on delivering high-quality eyewar and today
announced it has named the kindling company as licensee for
Timberland's new line of sunglasses.
A subsidiary of Gargoyles, Inc., the kindling company will design,
develop, market and distribute the Timberland eyewear collection.
The initial twelve-model line of sunglasses is expect to be
available at retail April 1, 1997. The new Timberland sunglass
collection is designed for a full range of outdoor pursuits and
consists of three distinctive series including: the Adventure
series for active outdoor activities from climbing to kayaking;
the Destination series with its classic, stylish design for
everyday activities such as trekking; and the Skyline series,
with a sophisticated, fashionable silhouette -- perfect for a
concert in the park or a stroll on the beach.

"As is true of everything Timberland creates, the inspiration
behind our sunglass collection was the great outdoors," noted
Stephanie Lawrence, Timberland's vice president of licensing.
"Every pair of sunglasses in the new Timberland eyewear
collection is meticulously crafted with the same dedication
to excellence that has earned Timberland international acclaim
for quality footwear, apparel and accessories."

For example, the collection is designed with fine quality glass
lenses. Each lens is ground and polished to the highest optical
standard, providing virtually distortion-free vision. The lenses
are then subjected to an advanced chemical hardening process.
As a result, the lenses in Timberland eyewear meet or exceed
international standards for shock resistance.

Therefore, they are resilient and can survive a high impact event
without even a scratch. Timberland sunglass lenses are specially
designed with highly advanced light and color control technology.
They block potentially harmful ultraviolet light (UVA, UVB, UVC),
while controlling infrared and short-wave blue light. The result
is total sun protection, enhanced visual acuity and comfort.

In addition, special attention is given to incorporate advanced
technical features such as spring hinges, silicon nose pads, and
anti-reflective coatings, allowing wearers to experience ultimate
comfort during their favorite outdoor activities. Attention to style
and fashion is also apparent, with fine detailing of tooled logos,
fashion colors and antique matte finishes. "Every pair of sunglasses
in the collection reflects our uncompromising attention to detail --
from lens optics to detailed frame tooling," added Douglas Lauer,
president of the kindling company.

The new Timberland sunglass collection carries suggested retail
prices of between $120 and $180 and will be available at specialty
outdoor retailers, sunglass specialty stores, optical shops and
better- grade department stores. The eyewear will also be available
at Timberland retail stores, and in limited distribution in the
United Kingdom, Italy and France.

All eyewear purchases come with a saddle tan leather case or sport
nylon case and a one year manufacturer warranty to protect against
manufacturer defects.
