"The effects of the present merger wave on concentration have yet to be determined, but there is little reason to expect their influence will differ substantially from the merger wave of the 1980s which produced, at the most, a slight increase in manufacturing concentration" Interesting assertion Harry... especially since the whole point of most mergers is to concentrate manufacturing, administration, market share, intellectual property, customer opportunity while insulating one's own fortunes against competitive intrusion.
