I quick review of the current time-to-market areal density leaders
in the DD industry...

#1 - IBM - but their GMR DD wasn't exactly meant to be a
mainstream high volume market leader. They lead as always.
#2 - Maxtor - DiamondMax 3400(3.4GB/platter)
#3 - Drum roll... Fujitsu. What??!?! Desktop 10 Series(3.4GB/platter:)
fcpa.com
#4 - Samsung - Spinpoint SV (3.2GB/platter)
#5 - QNTM. Fireball EL(3.2GB/platter)

Looks like the shuffling of market share may continue... Folks, this means
that the current problems are far from over IMO.

And the 7200rpm desktop DD leaders?
IBM, Maxtor, Fujitsu... SEG is lumped in their somewhere with the Big Bear dud.

Anyone got any good short ideas?(Besides APM Lawrence!)

And to even make our lives a little better yet, Fujitsu plans are
to expand to 15% share in 98/99!!
biz.yahoo.com
(Fujitsu share went from 5.3% in 1996 to 8.8% in 1997)
No slowdown there.

I'm getting more confident in this industry by the day!
