Its really unnecessary for Intel and MSFT to go to war From what I can gather this is an enterprise focused deal. Novell unlike MSFT has a certified JAVA. ITs JAVA virtual machine is already the fastest on an Intel platform using industry standard benchmarks. This deal is targeted on a Merced and multiprocessing version of Novell's JVM. Its important for the people following Intel to understand that whereas MSFT controls the desktop NOW, no company the size of Intel's can afford to stick its head in the sand and ignore the possibilities of JAVA. Novell is putting together an enterprise JAVA solution which will sell Intel high end processors. Frankly its the scumbag MONOPOLY IS GOOD mentality of the Intel insiders here that is ruining the company. They are a bunch of clueless slide rule carrying geeks when it comes to marketing. Don't you remember when they were all saying that the sub 1K market was a flash in the pan!
