JERUSALEM (Dow Jones)--Israel's Electric Fuel Ltd. (EFCX) and the
General Electric Co. (GE) will cooperate on the development of an
electric transit bus, a news release said Wednesday.

According to the release, the Israel-U.S. Binational Industrial
Research and Development Foundation (BIRD) will support the joint
project. BIRD didn't disclose the value of the investment, but the
foundation generally provides $500,000 to $1 million for approved
projects.

The two companies aim to develop an electric transit bus capable
of operating on urban routes for a complete eight to 10 hour
shift. Electric Fuel will provide the high energy battery to fuel
the bus, while General Electric will provide the electric drive
and energy management systems technology.

The project will be conducted both in Israel and the U.S., and
will last some 18 months, the release said.
