viper,
Twas interesting, if not humorous, to observe where one scout had been "parked" earlier. Tire tracks led off the road, through the muddy/wet ditch, across a small patch of grass and up a bit of an embankment right to the treeline. This was at a location 1/4 mile from the well. The funny(sad??) part was what he had done between the treeline and the wellsite. He had CUT a swath of trees out of his way so that he had an unobstructed view of the site from his 4x4!!! The trees were not large, mostly 2" stock or less, and the swath was not all that long, maybe 20 yards, but still ...
I felt a tiny bit guilty when I took advantage of his prior work!!
It's hard to tell how many eyes there may have been on the site last night as the flare can be seen for a couple of miles or more (from a few different angles) at night. I watched with binoculars from quite a distance after I had made my initial "close-up" inspection. I even had a special visitor at one point (i.e. wellsite "security") and we had a pleasant albeit very short chat. Unfortunately, he would only talk about the weather and such, not the well. I concluded that he likes his job!!!!
As I drove around the area early in the evening, I was amazed by the level of activity in this area. Numerous new wellsites. New pipeline construction. Other completion activity on other wells. New well locations, etc.. Regretfully, I do understand the need for the tight hole status!!
A friend of mine today relayed a story about his frustration in trying to find out a couple of "details" about this well and he concluded by saying that "That well is not a tight hole. It's super-tight!!". I do agree that it appears tighter than most!! And so, I have to ask myself -- "Why??"
