Glenayre Receives $8.5 Million Order For Expansion of Paging Network in China CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Glenayre Technologies Inc. has received a $8.5 million order for the expansion of a 150MHz province-wide POCSAG paging network in China's Henan province. Glenayre is providing infrastructure equipment and technical support to Hing Tat Investments Ltd., a long-standing distributor of Glenayre equipment in China. Hing Tat obtained the expansion contract from the Posts and Telecommunications Authority (PTA) of Henan province.
Glenayre and Hing Tat will increase network capacity in eleven cities and expand the network to include seven additional cities.
''Henan is one of China's most heavily populated provinces and this expansion will help meet the increasing demand for paging service from a population of nearly 100 million people,'' said Henry Tsang, nationwide account director of Glenayre's China operations.
The order includes expansion of subscriber and voice mailbox capacity for installed GL3000 Wireless Messaging Switches, as well as additional GL3000s, GL5902 system controllers, RL153 link receivers, GL-E5310 transmitters and a GL-N2000 OMC for network management. Originally installed in 1995, Henan's network is one of more than 300 systems Glenayre has supplied to China since 1990.
