Thomas, let's try just a smidgeon of reason. Evolution has been repeatedly observed both in nature and the laboratory. Every single one of the foundations for the synthetic theory of evolution has been confirmed.
Consider: there must a quasi-stable blueprint for life that is mutable. This was proposed by Darwin prior to the discovery of the gene, and more than a hundred years prior to cracking the genetic code.
Consider: there must be a process whereby some of the changes to the genes confer an advantage, and others a disadvantage. This again was proposed by Darwin. We have seen this occur with the emergence of DDT resistant houseflies, antibiotic resistant bacteria, and industrial melanism in moths. Why are these species interesting? Because they all have very rapid life cycles which allow you to compress time. What occurs in bacteria in one day would take four hundred years in human beings.
Consider: there must be isolating mechanisms that allow for rapid changes in the gene pool. This has been observed in any number of species including north American toads, fruit flies, Rift Valley fishes and many more.
Now the reason I apparently don't make sense to you is because everything that I told you is based on empirical observation and experimentation. It is not based on a dubious appeal to authority. The next time you receive an inocculation against the Asian flu just think of Charles Darwin.
Now lets take your comments one at a time.
1. Does the fossil record really prove there is evolution between species?
Not by itself. But when taken in conjunction with ages of rock, anatomical homologies, embryological ontogeny, DNA studies, protein homologies between species, and direct field observations, the evidence is compelling.
2. Has anyone made a bird out of a fish in the lab?
Of course not! First, there is compelling evidence to show that birds evolved from reptiles. Secondly, this is a process that required millions of years. Of course in bible time I guess only a day.
3. How do you know the flood water was fresh?
Last time I looked rain was fresh. Of course if it were salt we still have the problem of where to put all of those pesky bass and crappies and muskelunges and sturgeons. And by the way, here's something I didn't mention. According to Genesis Noah took on all animals in pairs except those that were ritually clean. Now how did he know which were ritually clean since the kosher laws hadn't been handed down yet?
4. Where do you find Jesus looking at all the people of the world?
Sermon on the mount.
5. You are looking at the creation and misinterpreting it. To find truth go to the source of creation and learn.
That's what scientists do! And I'll tell you a little secret. It source isn't found in the bible, or the Koran, or any other holy book. It's found in the universe. Open your eyes.
