I don't know what you were listening to, but the CDMA phone sounded
clear and had great quality compared to any cell phone I've heard.
On the other hand the Ericsson phone had echoing, feedback and static
and was very bad in comparison.

I'm in San Diego so maybe it was your Chicago long distance carrier
that had the poor quality. Again it was not even close.
