Nurse Norma watched the tycoon die on the table. She then decided to follow her instincts ... or actually her greed. She went looking for Muffy herself. As part of a cleverly designed plot to undermine the police investigation of the accident, she took on a job at a local orphanage. She also took driving lessons so she could moonlight as a cab driver.

Unfortunately, she was too late to help the caretaker of the orphanage, who had recently been electrocuted in the women's rest room. However, she did make the acquaintance of one Muffy Murphy.

She couldn't believe her luck. Could this be THE Muffy Murphy? How strange ... this child was given her last name by the orphanage's caretaker, recently deceased ... and her first name by the Orphanage director, MrB. What a coincidence!

The necklace Nurse Norma had received from her grandmother seemed like the likely Christmas gift for the little waif, who was about 8 years of age.

[Editor's note: OK, we have now filled in some of the past history, which seemed to have a hole in it occasionally. Back to the thread of the story. Hopefully, without lice.]

The USAW acquisition talks were going nowhere. "Darn, I really need somebody to run this thing!", thought TED.
