Meanwhile, Jeff was back in the ambulance, secretively using his cell phone. "No, I'm sure of it", he said. "They have no idea. This will work. Trust me on this." He broke the connection and laid the phone on the seat next to him.

The McDonald's manager threw Muffy and Norma out the door. Several customers who were busily munching their lunches laughed loudly.

Muffy and Norma got back into the cab of the ambulance, somewhat disheveled and obviously upset with each other. Muffy picked up Jeff's phone, pressed "redial", expecting to get jhild (or Daddy Mensa, if you prefer) back on the phone.
