Mike,
the original post was written by the perennial doomsayer or short probably. I don't believe that margined shares are necessarily moved to cash accounts with margin calls. Just enough cash has to be added to balance the margin account or many are forced to sell out and it the cause of some falling prices in already ridiculously over-sold VVUS.
I agree with your premise that if the stock is sold the short shares would have to be borrowed elsewhere.

Scope,
some of us actually own VVUS fully paid for and not margined, FYI.
