Unless they say specifically "license", assume they also include "service" revenue in "sales". Since service sales are increasing much faster, that is why the problem with the numbers. Also watch out for the geographic distribution of sales. They are publically only talking about North American licenses, and do not want to give out low or negative growth Asia and European numbers.

The key for balanced analysis is to note what they do not talk about.
