I think you are confusing the 3D products with "inteligent agents" with a major new component to Java called "aglets" or agents, of which General Magic has been a key developer.

From what I read, the graphics interface offered by 3D are in fact more than simply graphics, but they are not what General Magic is doing. I know nothing more than what I read on the web site. Still, it seems pretty clear to me that 3D Planet is selling an interface tool that brings together many developing technologies using graphics.

I would venture a guess and say they are not competing with GMGC. Could be an interesting mix of technology in the future if people start using Portico on graphic oriented devices, but I'd say that's a little far off in the future IMHO.

I tried to get some dialog going on agents when I discovered what a far reaching idea this was. I started a thread called The Agent Society. It links to the website, agent.org which is a great source of information. There hasn't been much interest as I believe the notion of agents haven't really caught on with people. When it does, I think it'll be a great driver to all these companies.

Regards,

Mark

PS Have you downloaded their plug in software and actually viewed the sample web sites? Was it smooth, useful and cool? How well does the text to speech work?
