Mark, dead on. I think the bold claims Seybold predicts for SQL Server 7.0 are a little too bold. The bottom line is still NT. I don't see any serious competition from Microsoft at the enterprise level until NT is more scalable. It was also interesting to note that Seybold mentions '24x7' as a new issue for 1998. Perhaps that is so for MS and NT dbms'. It certainly is a non-issue for Oracle on large UNIX boxen. These "issues" had solutions years ago. Oracle will rule the roost on high-end systems until NT becomes competitive on high-end systems. Again, low-end, today, maybe a different beast.
