An individual close to the company recently indicated to me that CPU's PC business is cranking up pretty quickly and could add 2-3% to revenue on a sequential basis from the previous Q. It seems that the company's goal is to increase the run rate of the business by 100% by calendar year end. That would add another 2-3% to revenue. This informatioin correlates to the general info Halpin mentioned at a recent investor conference. I am not sure that analysts have accounted for this impact on CPU's financial performance.

A couple of store checks have indicated that Win98 is expected to be a pretty big boost for the company. Obviously not because the actual sales of Win98 but becuase of the increase of story traffic overall. There will be only a slight effect this Q, most of it will spill into next Q.

It will be interesting to see how these things offset the weakness associated with falling PC and peripheral prices in the next Q or two.
