In addition, we have the technical capabilities and resources to make outstanding contributions in some of the world's fastest growing technology markets.
Our corporate headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, and our Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) are two large and technically sophisticated organizations. The Columbus operation consists of more than 1.6 million square feet of offices and laboratories, with a staff of over 3,000. Here we have a broad spectrum of technical and scientific operations, including product design and engineering; computing; computer-aided design/engineering/manufacturing, and analytical modeling; prototyping; low-run manufacturing; materials characterization; explosive testing; hazardous materials research; medical research and evaluation; biotechnology; and chemical and chemical process testing.
Battelle assumed operation of PNNL in 1965, and successfully transitioned it from a single-purpose nuclear works laboratory into a leading multi-program laboratory. PNNL houses nearly 3,600 staff in more than 2 million square feet of laboratory and office space. We conduct research in nearly every field of basic science and solve problems in the areas of environment, energy, health and national security. |
