WASHINGTON (June 17, 1998 9:39 p.m. EDT nando.net) - The House
Appropriations Committee on Wednesday approved $250 billion in military
spending for fiscal 1999 and tagged on a measure to curb a president's
ability to deploy troops without first consulting Congress.....snip

snip.....A $1.6 billion emergency appropriation for fixing defense
computers to deal with the year 2000 problem and secure computer systems
also was approved, although it faced objection as a budget cap busting
measure.
