First, thanks for the follow-up to my winmodem answer, Sean.

I have never owned a Tyan board. I have heard testimony from several independent reputable vendors that they've had very high RMA's on them. (Sorry, but it's been awhile, and I don't recall the various parties.) This has led me to shy away from recommending or trying them.

Assuming this perception ever was accurate, it may now be obsolete.

I recall that Tyan always seemed to have excellent documentation and unusual features (e.g., lots of mem and expansion slots) for their Tomcat and other P5 boards. I reckon they still do? I also gather you've not experienced the same reliability problems.

Just my moderately informed opinion.
