Maybe at some point in the future it'll be profitable. As for the near-mid term, seems to me TXN wanted out so badly, they basically gave it away. I would ask myself why? Because this biz is inherently unstable, and at best marginally profitible. TXN knew it would always be a drag on their books, so they were willing to take MU shares which might turn out OK, but also might turn out to be big losers. They assumed debt from a company with a below grade Moody's rating. I bet TXN is feeling pretty smug right now, and I bet their stock will rise above the nice move the market gave it today. We'll see. Dave
