Newsbytes - June 18, 1998: 5:07 p.m. ET

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN (NB) -- Networking
Roundup. Sweden's Ericsson
[NASDAQ:ERICY] has been selected by GSM
(global system for mobile communications)
operator Srinivas Cellcom Ltd. to build, what the
company claims will be, the largest mobile
network in India.

The new GSM network will reportedly provide
coverage to over 250 cities in the Tamil Nadu
state, supporting half a million subscribers when
completed. The order includes a variety of
equipment, including Axe mobile switching
centers and base station controllers.

To date, says Ericsson, the company has
supplied 19 out of the 41 mobile networks in
India.
