Mr Sturgeon, I am not a true believer. I am a true skeptic. That means I accept nothing without proof, and I question everything including science. You, on the other hand, are a true believer. You will twist facts and observations to fit your preconceived notions. That is exactly what you have done when you argue against the laws of thermodynamics. When a thermodynamic argument about entropy is made it is precisely as I have described it. And it is fully compatible with concepts such as the Heisenberg uncertainty principal and similar probabilistic views of nature. In other words, pure random unpredictable acts of very small particles result in highly predictable behavior in large masses. That's how Newtonian physics and the kinetic theory of gasses mesh perfectly. So consider adding a college level course in physics and physical chemistry to your curriculum. If you want to debate science with people it would be most helpful if you actually knew something about science.
I cannot tell you what the origin of matter is. I have no idea. As I said before, I am not a cosmologist. But neither can you tell me the origin of God. If it is incumbent on me to engage in a prime mover argument, so too is it incumbent upon you. Surely even you would reject the notion that god could not exist simply because you cannot account for for god's creation.
But let me give you a biblical argument in favor of evolution. According to biblical myth mankind owes its origin to Adam and Eve. Yet today some 6,000 years later (according to fundamentalist thinking) we have a plethora of races. Some people have light skins, some have brown skins, some have nearly black skins, some have epilabial folds, others are very short, etc. So tell me, if evolution was not responsible for these racial differences where did all of these peoples come from (and so fast too!) ? Did god pull a quick creation over in the next county when no one was looking? |
