Interesting call with Sand. Nothing new as expected but no reason to be unhappy. In a case of a company like Sand you have two choices. The first is to forget bottom line results for the most part. Not easy to do but a necessity. It is the nature of the business. The fact that sand has expanded with out going in the hole is impressive. Check out most companies in this position and this is not the case. The reasons are the income from the HDS and the increasing yet small income from the new software. Both should increase as things go on, the hardware commission side because of new products and the yen/dollar exchange, and the software from slow but continuing sales and acceptance. On the other side there is no question that the expenses will increase as the company hires expensive people. Good ones are expensive, but good ones don't work for companies they don't have faith in. Just a matter of bucks.
Sand makes the point that they have to be careful releasing info. I have to 100 percent agree here. Great way to kill a deal is to talk out of school.Arthur is very honest about this and adamant about it. He has to be. he has a good grasp of where he is and what he has to do.
It is disappointing to all that we have to sit and wait, but that is the choice . He is expecting significant deals in the next 3-6 months, and he will probably be correct. He doesn't exaggerate as we know.
SOOOO... we can expect the next couple of earning reports to be neutral, but the significance will be in the increasing revenues and the magnitude of the deals. The biggie techs like the stuff and are talking about it which helps him immensely. he is not BSing about the amount of time it takes to get these things done. The fact that HDS was initially a disaster was no surprise to him, or to me, but he had no choice. Hopefully they will come around and seem to have made some progress. It is complicated in this field, but incredible promise is here. For what it is worth, I think they have a good hand on the company and what needs to be done. The product is largely done, now comes the selling. It would be so easy for this company to make a buck a share it scares you. Think I will wait around.
