My first Bear book was EON, then Blood Music. Both are very different in their scope. Blood Music may be a slightly easier read for your daughter, EON is complex. However, I would say that your daughter will probably enjoy the Finney book. A good blend of romance and science fiction wrapped into the most amazing descriptions of 19th century New York. You will be able to picture New York of the 1880's in your minds eye during the course of reading. She and you would probably enjoy this the most.
