I once got some very good advice and I now pass it along ... NEVER threaten to sue. Either sue or do not sue, but to threaten only pisses folks off and is nothing more than a meaningless gesture. And, NO, you CANNOT file criminal charges for slander (In this case it would be libel anyway) because it is a civil matter, not a criminal one.
