John,

Win98 is known to have lots of bugs in it. Most techie types I know plan on waiting until after a few releases have come out before installing it, to avoid the major holes. Win98 is kind of like a hybrid between WinNT and Win95. If the Win95 version of ICQ is killing you, see if there's a WinNT version available and try that. If not, reinstall the Win95 one. Send a note off to Mirabilis if you can't get it to work. They should know what they support. ICQ is their product.
