I think Kerry's problem went beyond a caching issue from the description of it, but you are right. A lot of applications are written by people who have no idea what system level programming is and even though they construct code that violates certain principles it will appear to work correctly from their testing. That is until someone pops in some caching software. I've experienced this myself. Same hardware same os, same caching software, different clients running different applications. One runs fine. The other burps. Analyzing the results invariably leads to questions about system programming, and they (the developers) say "what's that ?" Ignorance is bliss.
