You can't "sustain subscriber growth" if you don't have the eqiupment. AOL has only 170,000 modems, and by the end of December will have at least several million unlimited usage customers. AOL won't have enough installed equpment to support its current customer base (and warned its customers in the letter mailed to inform them about the pricing change), let alone support any new "growth" for some time to come.

Just ask Jim Bakker what happens when you promise people things, take their money up front, and then can't deliver the product.
